CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA), in partnership with Coastal Bend first responders, will host an emergency drill on March 7 at CCIA. The event will take place from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. This event is not open to the public.

This drill is staged every three years to practice real-time emergency responses and comply with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements. The training will not impact normal airport operations. Signage will advise airport visitors that a drill is underway.

The Corpus Christi Police and Fire Departments, local hospitals, the American Red Cross, Del Mar College, and other emergency responders will also be on-site. There will be approximately 20 agencies participating from the local, state, and federal levels.

"The airport’s emergency plan is reviewed and updated regularly and will be tested during this exercise,” Kevin Smith, CCIA Director of Aviation, said. “The scenario also gives the participating emergency response agencies a chance to exercise their procedures for handling an incident of this magnitude."

Safety and security of the airport campus and other property surrounding our airport is the top priority for CCIA.
