CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – On Monday, December 12, the City initiated an emergency closure of the Yorktown Mud Bridge in the 8600 block of Yorktown Boulevard for repairs of a washout resulting in damage to the bridge's riprap embankment.

The City has developed a plan to repair the Yorktown Mud Bridge, and Anderson Columbia Co., Inc. will execute the repairs immediately.

The plan, which calls for repairs on the bridge's east and west channel banks, is expected to take one month to complete, contingent upon access to the work sites beneath the bridge and the availability of materials.

"Our goal is to shore up the existing structure and protect the bridge from future erosion," said Corpus Christi Public Works Director Ernesto De La Garza.

TxDOT has plans to replace the bridge in 2026; however, the City has begun the dialog with TxDOT to expedite the timeline. The estimated cost of the new bridge is $20.3 million.
