Thursday, October 20, 2022 – “Buried American History” Walking Tour Magnolia Cemetery at Dusk, 5:30PM -7:30PM

“Buried American History” Walking Tour – AT DUSK! - Take a tour of America’s buried history at Magnolia Cemetery starting at dusk - a time when the cemetery traditionally closes! This rare opportunity (just around the corner from Halloween) provides an up-close look at significant gravesites of Americans who have impacted our lives.  The Cemetery Coordinator (a.k.a. “The Caretaker”) will be adorned in Victorian-era clothing to escort you through the darkness with a lantern to the gravesites of a slave from West Africa; a Florida governor; a consul general to Edinburgh, Scotland (believed to be the setting of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde); and one of Robert Ripley's favorite American oddities. Interesting tidbits along the way to each gravesite. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring your own flashlight for your own walking safety. The cemetery grounds are mostly flat surfaces throughout however one needs to beware of strange things protruding from the cemetery grounds. This is a free event. Register by email to Cemetery Coordinator Christopher Mitchell at [email protected].

There will be light refreshments served at 5:30PM before the tour begins at 6:00PM.
