TITLE: Activity Aide – Recreation (On-Call)
SALARY: $ 12.80 hourly

JOB SUMMARY: Activity Aides coordinate, supervise and monitor recreational activities at various recreational locations, primarily after school, during intercessions, special events, and on weekends. In addition, aides perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training, education, which demonstrates potential ability to perform the duties of the position. Valid Arizona Driver’s License. Flexible schedules desired.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Residency within sixty miles of the corporate limits of the City of Douglas, within the United States, required within a reasonable time after hire date.

EVALUATION METHOD: The Human Resources Manager will initially screen applications for minimum qualifications according to training and experience as provided on employment application. Those applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an evaluation process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs a variety of tasks in support of recreation programming and special events.

Maintains facilites and equipment.

Observes and participates in activites.

Performs cash handling procedures.

Registers patrons for classes.

Plans summer camp class schedule.

Instructs patrons in crafts, games, and other activites.

Communicates with staff and the general public.

Completes documents and data entry such as daily attendance, incident reports, and time records.

Comprehends written and verbal directions.

Adapts recreation activites to a variety of age groups and particpant needs.

Observes behavior of program participants and monitors equipment for proper working order and safety.

May serve as lead over recreation programs and events.

Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values, and goals of the City by assuring that all policies, rules and regulations are followed and that accountability and public trust are preserved.

Supports the relationship between the City and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors and City staff; enthusiastically promotes the City’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.

Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions. Follows City-wide safety policy and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the City's Safety Handbook

Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

Performs related duties as assigned.

EVALUATION FACTORS:

Desirable, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of rules and regulations governing athletic sports such as soccer, basketball, softball, and baseball.

Knolwegde of CPR and First Aid

Knowledge of OSHA compliance and regulations as they pertain to the functions of this position

Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the public

Ability to interact tactfully and curteously with children and adults particpating in recreation programs and events

Skill in customer service

Skill in planning daily activites for program participants
