Read below for information about the Annual Juneteenth Parade and Commemoration, the next Starlight Concert, free summer meals for youth, and more!

Enjoy the musical sounds of summer

Live music is back with a jam-packed summer of concerts in Evanston.

Starlight Concert: Head to Bent Park, located at Central Street and Cowper Avenue, on Tues., June 14 for the next Starlight Concert! Enjoy music by Melody Angel, who combines R&B, rock, folk and funk sounds layered on a strong bed of Chicago blues. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. 

Jamming Jean Concert: Kick off the weekend with tunes from Suite Mollie tomorrow, Fri., June 10 at 5 p.m. at James Park behind the Levy Senior Center. Enjoy a variety of funk, rock, soul, and R&B music! Make it dinner and a show by ordering from the Cocina Azteca food truck on site. Jamming Jean Concerts are presented by the Levy Senior Center Foundation.

Main-Dempster Mile Summer Kickoff Concert: Enjoy the musical stylings of Chicken Bone along with dinner and drinks from some of your favorite Main-Dempster Mile businesses this Fri., June 10, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Train Station Alley (600 Main St.) 

Celebrate Juneteenth next weekend

The City, in partnership with Evanston Present and Future, is honoring Juneteenth with a parade and commemoration on Sat., June 18.

Parade: The celebration will kick off at 10 a.m. with a Juneteenth Parade, beginning in the parking lot of Robert Crown and ending at Ingraham Park. View the parade route. Parking will not be available in the Robert Crown parking lot from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on June 18 due to parade staging.

Commemoration: Following the parade, join in for an afternoon of art, music, food and community (.pdf) at Ingraham Park, located just west of the Morton Civic Center.

Proclamation: At the next City Council meeting, Mayor Biss will make a proclamation recognizing Sun., June 19 as "Juneteenth" in Evanston

Summer Youth Food Program begins Monday

Free cold breakfasts and lunches will be available to youth ages 1 to 18 years old at six locations throughout Evanston as part of the Summer Food Program, June 13 through August 12.
