Winter's not over yet!

Forecasts call for a messy day on Friday, with rain, slush, snow, and high winds expected. 

How you can help: Voluntarily avoid parking on main thoroughfares posted as Snow Routes (.PDF) during the day on Friday. This will help City plows keep our busiest streets clear during periods of heavy snow.

Additional notifications will follow in the event that enforced parking restrictions are declared.

Celebrate by learning about Evanston's rich history of brilliant, strong, pioneering women.

Learn: The Evanston Public Library has compiled community resources to help you explore women's history in Evanston, including an interactive timeline, checklist of accomplishments, and reading list.

Tour: The Frances Willard House Museum has reopened for tours on select days and times throughout March.

Attend: Join Northwestern University for a virtual International Women's Day speaker event on Wednesday, March 8, at noon, featuring renowned scholar Teresa Wasonga.

Plan your Saturday art adventure: Check out Evanston Made's First Saturday Evanston Art events on March 4! Enjoy an Art & Wine night, sketching workshop, art exhibits, and more.

Explore works from Black artists: Head to the Black History/My History  exhibit on the 2nd floor of the Noyes Cultural Arts Center through April 10. 

Call for artists: The annual Plein Air Festival takes place in the summer (July 9-16), but artists can register to participate now. 

Investing in our region's water system 

The City will soon begin a $47.2 million construction project to replace the oldest water intake at the Evanston Water Utility, helping to provide high-quality, safe and reliable drinking water to nearly 500,000 people in Evanston and surrounding communities. 

Construction timeline: Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-March 2023 and continue to the end of 2024.

COVID-19 Update

Cases: Evanston reported 61 new confirmed COVID-19 cases over the last seven days, compared to 66 for the week prior. The current seven-day moving average of daily confirmed cases is 8.71.

COVID-19 Community Risk Level: LOW. 

Hospitalizations: View local COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Street cleaning began earlier this week and will continue through December 15, weather permitting. View the 2023 street cleaning schedule and sign up for courtesy email or text notifications.

Learn about seasonal hazards and how to prepare

Join the Office of Emergency Management for a Seasonal Hazards and Climate Change workshop on Wednesday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Robert Crown Community Center. Registration is encouraged.

Get to know the City's Victim Services Advocates

In honor of Social Workers Month in March, we're highlighting the City's victim services advocates, Kelli Nelson and Ariel Jackson. 

As part of their roles, Kelli and Ariel provide social services and assistance to Evanston residents during a crisis or emergency situation, including victims of violent crime and individuals and family members dealing with other crises, such as mental health or suicide. 

In 2021, the Victim Services team handled 1,400 advocacy cases. Thank you to Kelli and Ariel for their service to our community!
