Partners in Prevention’s “Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin’ by World” Registration Now Open
The City of Longview Partners in Prevention opens registration for the “Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin’ by World” weekly sessions starting on Tuesday, February 7.  Getting Ahead is part of the Longview Bridges Out of Poverty initiative.  Designed for adults living in poverty or with limited resources, Getting Ahead provides information and tools to help build economic stability and emotional and social resources.  There is no charge to participate in the 22 weekly sessions.  In addition, Getting Ahead material is provided, childcare for ages younger than 12, and a meal at each weekly session.

Getting Ahead is an innovative, co-investigative workshop series that provides a place to learn and plan for a positive future story.  Partners in Prevention Manager Holly Fuller states, “Partners in Prevention is facilitating Getting Ahead sessions while crossing racial and economic lines to learn from participants in Getting Ahead.  Upon graduating from Getting Ahead, participants stay engaged by attending monthly Staying Ahead learning sessions to continue their personal growth in the area of finances, discovering community resources, budgeting, goal setting, building positive relationships, and other topics.” Many Getting Ahead graduates have gone on to gain employment, move into full-time positions with benefits, graduate from college, improve their social support, and stabilize their lives.

Getting Ahead sessions will meet in Longview on Tuesdays from 6 – 8 p.m.  New participants can join until February 6.  Please call 903-237-1019 for more information or to register.
