NEWTON, NC—The Newton Parks and Recreation Department presents 12 Days of Christmas Activities, a series of events and contests during the holiday season designed to be fun for the whole family.

Seniors Jingle Bell Express, Dec. 15

Newton Parks and Recreation presents a holiday drive-thru event for senior citizens. Seniors are invited to drive through the Jingle Bell Express at the Newton Recreation Center, 23 South Brady Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1 to 1:45 p.m. Dec. 15 to pick up a special brown bag from Santa’s elves. Reservations are required and may be made by calling the Newton Recreation Center at 828-695-4317.

Gingerbread Man Contest, through Dec. 16

This contest invites you to create and name your own gingerbread man. Find the template, entry form, and complete details at www.newtonnc.gov/parksandrec or pick up in-person at the Newton Recreation Center, 23 South Brady Ave.

Kidz Night Out, Dec. 17

Kidz Night Out will be 2 to 8 p.m. Dec. 17 and is held in conjunction with the Downtown Newton Holiday Sip and Shop, during which participating retailers will present special Christmas gifts and holiday offerings. Drop off children ages 3 through 12 at the Newton Recreation Center, 23 South Brady Ave., where they will enjoy a craft activity, pizza, and a movie. Cost is $7 per child.

Ugly Sweater Contest, through Dec. 22

Join the fun with Newton Parks and Recreation by sending pictures of your ugliest holiday sweater to [email protected]. Participants will have the chance to win great prizes from local businesses and eateries.

Virtual Christmas Pajama Party, through Dec. 24

You are invited to Newton Parks and Recreation’s Virtual Christmas Pajama Party. Celebrate the season with family and friends, and share your special memories on social media. Submit your favorite photos of your family’s pajama party to [email protected].
