Anthony Muñoz Community Center Mural Project Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – November 7

Join us on Monday, November 7 at the Anthony Muñoz Community Center for the ribbon cutting of the newest City sponsored public art project ‘Ontario Living’. This project is part of the ongoing commitment of the City to promote public art as a cultural resource for the community and to establish Ontario as the destination for Arts & Culture in the Inland Empire. The ceramic tile mural was designed by local artist Rick Caughman and represents different forms of recreation and activities provided by the City of Ontario.

Currently, Ontario has the 5th largest unsheltered homeless population in San Bernardino County. In order to meet the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness, the City of Ontario, working with its various partners, provides a variety of resources and supportive services including basic human necessities, mental health services, rehabilitation, as well as a host of transitional and permanent housing solutions.

The City continues to seeks additional resources to provide the social and capital infrastructure necessary to transition all segments of Ontario’s homeless population into stable housing. For more information on these award-winning services and more, visit Continuum of Care.

Senior, Teen, and Youth Services Available to Our Community

The City of Ontario parks and community centers are more than just public amenities – they enhance the quality of life for our residents by providing numerous resources, programs, classes, and clubs helping to keep our seniors active, and our youth out of trouble and engaged with their communities.

Here are just a few of the important services available to you and your family

Seniors:

Free daily (M-F) meals to residents ages 60 and over
Active Seniors on the Go: An assortment of fitness amenities and classes keeping our seniors active and healthy
Silver S.T.A.R.S. Senior Transportation & Recreation Shuttle
Various activities, crafts, entertainment, and wellness services

Teens:

Ontario One-Stop TAY Center: Support groups, counseling, therapy, mentoring and other well-being services for teens and young adults aged 16 to 25
Teen Lounge: Afterschool hang-out to spend time with friends. Available Monday through Friday.
G.I.R.L.S. Club: A community of young women who empower teenage girls to develop into confident and independent individuals in our society. Teens will learn a variety of skills through various workshops. Open to ages 12-17.
All for One: Whether you are an ally or member of the LQBTQ+ community, "All for One" is a SAFE space for you!
Teen Action Committee: Provides the next generation of leaders an opportunity to address community issues and to develop strong ties with other teens through virtual networking opportunities and monthly meetings.
Various workshops including classes on podcasting, studio production, music, and more!

The Brainy Bunch: Daily homework help at Community Centers
Ontario on the Go provides after-school activities and even homework visiting local parks on rotating schedule
S.T.E.M. workshops and classes exploring worlds of science and technology through exciting experiments and demonstrations
Free afterschool dinner on a first-come, first-served basis served at the Dorothy A. Quesada Community Center and De Anza Community and Teen Center

Measure Q – Local Services Measure

On November 8, 2022, Ontario residents will vote on Measure Q, the City of Ontario Local Services Measure, to consider local general funding to potentially address $1.2 billion in unfunded infrastructure and neighborhood improvement projects, as well as enhance City services and programs.

Yard Sale Weekend – November 4, 5, & 6

The next citywide yard sale event is Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 6. Yard sales will only be permitted one-weekend of each quarter during the year. Yard sales are not allowed at any other time of the year. Yard sale permits are NOT required for these events!

If rainy weather conditions exist on either Friday or Saturday of the designated weekend, garage or yard sales may be conducted on the following consecutive Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For additional information, please contact the Community Improvement Department at (909) 395-2007.

City Facilities Closed on November 11, 24 & 25

City Facilities will be closed on Friday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. City Facilities will also be closed Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25 in observance of Thanksgiving.

City Facilities that will be closed due to the holiday include: City Hall, City Hall Annex, Main and Branch Libraries, Recreation & Community Services building facilities, Utility & Customer Service Center, Municipal Utilities Company, Housing, Community Improvement, Museum of History & Art, and the lobby entrances for Police and Fire.

Police and Fire services will remain available 24/7.

Holiday Refuse and Recycling Collection Information

In observance of Veterans Day on Friday, November 11 refuse and recycling collection will be provided ONE DAY LATER than your normal pickup day.

In observance of Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 25, refuse and recycling collection will be provided ONE DAY LATER than your normal pickup day for the remainder of the week.

If you need to request a bin replacement, missed trash pick up, bulky item pick up, or empty roll off request -- you do not need to call our Utilities Customer Service Department. Simply fill out one of the online forms and we will assist you!

International Fraud Week – November 13-19

The City of Ontario joins the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and hundreds of organizations worldwide for International Fraud Awareness Week from November 13 – 19, 2022.

With the focus on occupational fraud, Innovation, Performance Management and Audit (IPA) has partnered with the Economic Development Department and local business organizations, the Downtown Ontario Improvement Association (DOIA) and Greater Ontario Business Council (GOBC) to provide awareness and education in our continuous fight against the $3.7 trillion global fraud industry.

Join Us on December 3 for the Holiday Light Parade!

Join us on Euclid Avenue for an amazing Holiday Parade full of lights! FREE for all ages! Following the Holiday Parade, gather together at Ontario Town Square for the Tree Lighting Ceremony with live entertainment, crafts, and a photo with Santa!

Register Today for the Ontario 5K Reindeer Run and Rudolph's Dash!

The City of Ontario is proud to continue its sponsorship of the Annual 5K Reindeer Run and Rudolph’s Dash that will be held on Saturday, December 17. The 5K Reindeer Run will begin and end in downtown Ontario! The family-friendly Rudolph’s Dash will begin at the Start/Finish line of the 5K Reindeer Run and end in the Rudolph’s Roundup children’s area. Kids can run or walk this shorter course, or families may participate together. Rudolph’s Dash is geared for younger kids, moms or dads with their strollers, or anyone that wants to join the race on a smaller scale!

After the race, spend time with us in our Rudolph’s Roundup area where you can visit local businesses and race sponsors or have the kids participate in exercise activities and craft booths. There will be plenty of activities for the whole family!

Christmas on Euclid Experience
The Christmas on Euclid Experience has been a tradition for thousands of visitors each year since 1922. Families are delighted each year and we invite you to join the festivities. For more information, visit www.ChristmasonEuclid.com.

The iconic Euclid Avenue Nativity Scenes will be on display from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day in January. The twelve scenes have been a part of the community since 1958 and are free to view as you stroll along beautiful tree-lined Euclid Avenue, from C Street to G Street.
Saturday, December 3 is the annual Holiday Light Parade along Euclid Avenue, followed by the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Ontario Town Square. Santa Claus will be making a special visit to Ontario Town Square.
Saturday, December 10 is the Christmas on Euclid Craft Fair, an all-day magical festival of craft vendors, carolers, snow play, carnival rides plus live music and entertainment when historic Euclid Avenue and Ontario Town Square in Ontario, California is transformed into a whimsical winter wonderland of family activities.
Saturday, December 17 is the annual Ontario 5K Reindeer Run along Euclid Avenue with the annual Community Sing-A-Long at the R. Jack Mercer Community Bandstand in the evening.
Thursday, December 22 is the Menorah Procession. All are welcome to join the Jewish community at the Ontario Town Square in showcasing the concept of instilling light in the darkness as part of the Chanukah celebration, the Jewish Festival of Lights.
