During the month of September, the Panama City Fire Department will conduct annual Fire Hydrant Maintenance daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Maintenance includes clearing brush and vegetation from around hydrants, placing hydrant markers in the road, and checking gaskets, greasing valve caps, pressure testing and painting each fire hydrant.

The testing may cause a slight discoloration in your household water; however, hydrant maintenance moves less water through the fire hydrant and water lines than the Fire Hydrant Flow Testing that was conducted earlier this year. If you notice any discoloration, please allow the water to run until it clears.

Fire Hydrant Maintenance is performed annually and Fire Hydrant Flow Testing is conducted once every five years.
