From: City Of Sugar LandAnimal Shelter unable to accept dogs and cats from residents.
Sugar Land's animal shelter remains well over capacity due to a large number of dogs and rescuing more than 138 cats that were malnourished, pregnant and suffering from contagious medical conditions. We simply have far more dogs and cats than we have space and enclosures to house them even after we opened a temporary shelter at one of our parks.
Effectively immediately, the shelter is unable to accept dogs and cats from residents. This measure is being implemented to ensure the proper level of care is provided to pets currently housed in the shelter, as specified in protocols established by our Animal Advisory Board.
