Valdosta Fire Department Monthly Newsletter October 2022

Message from the Chief
Welcome to The Second Alarm, the Valdosta Fire Department's Monthly Newsletter. The objective of this newsletter is to communicate information to our members and the citizens we serve. Communications in any organization are pivotal to its success. Though this newsletter does not replace the day to day communication within our organization, we hope this newsletter will aid in sharing valuable information about our department to you. This is YOUR department! We continue to provide you service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Our doors are open at the stations. Please stop in at your neighborhood station and say hi.

The children are always happy to see their heroes, and even more so when those heroes are reading to them!
Thank you to Pinevale Elementary School for inviting us to visit and read to the students!

Training keeps firefighters confident and prepared to provide the utmost quality of service!
Not all incidents happen during the day, so night training is essential for reinforcing skills during more adverse conditions. Our firefighters had the opportunity to practice vehicle extrication during a night drill.

Introducing our Firefighter Wildcat & Viking Mascots for the children's helmets!
Congratulations to Ms. Alisa Collins on her 30 year anniversary of dedicated service to the Valdosta Fire Department! She is truly an inspiration and mentor to the members of our organization.

Staying connected to our community is one of our top priorities. Thank you to Valdosta-Lowndes Habitat for Humanity for inviting us to be apart of building new homes!
