From: City Of Corpus Christi

At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the City Council approved a $1.4 million-dollar construction contract to Mako Contracting of Corpus Christi, TX, for the Salinas Park improvement project located in Council District 3. Funding for the project is available from the Community Development Block Grant allocation.

Salinas Park is a popular sport and recreation destination near Airport Road and Horne Road. It is designated as a regional park and includes accessible play structures, a walking trail, and a baseball field. A splash pad opened in June 2020 with interactive water play features for youth of all ages. The park is also home to the City’s first adaptive sports field.

The project scope includes a seven-foot-wide concrete walking trail, lighting along the route, and five exercise stations with three exercise equipment units per station. The exterior grade exercise equipment will be anchored to a concrete slab.

Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2023 and be completed in early Summer 2023.
