The Owner of Deadwood Mountain Grand, Dale Morris has announced that effective January 1st, 2023 the ‘Deadwood Mountain Grand Management Committee’ will be the day-to-day decision-making body of the award-winning property, with responsibility for all aspects of the Resorts operations.

The Committee which is made up of the 11 Senior Department directors and managers within the Deadwood Mountain Grand Resort will report directly to ownership. The Committee will be responsible for on-going strategic planning and will oversee accounting, employee compensation and benefits as well as financial planning and reporting, including annual operating budgets and financials for all non-gaming departments within the business. A special Committee made up of the Key License Holders on the Deadwood Mountain Grand Management Committee will have the same responsibilities for the Gaming department.

The Management Committee will consist of a chairperson, vice chair and nine committee members that are tasked with running the business on a daily basis. Deadwood Mountain Grand General Manager and member of the Management Committee, Susan Kightlinger expressed appreciation and optimism for the opportunity. “As someone who’s worked in the market for a number of years, I’ve seen outside management companies come to Deadwood on numerous occasions with a cookie cutter approach to running a business,” said Kightlinger. “The fact is, not all businesses and not all markets are the same. I believe we have the best team in Deadwood and are the most qualified to run, grow and develop our own business. I can’t thank Dale enough for the opportunity."

An employee managed business is a new concept to the Deadwood market. The objective is to empower the local team to make decisions and outline goals that will keep the business responsibly profitable while investing in its employees and in the local community for years to come. “Dale’s mantra from the beginning has been, if the business is profitable we should share the success with our employees,” noted Kightlinger. “He truly believes there is no one better than his local team to run and ultimately take care of his business and team.”

Deadwood Mountain Grand currently offers employees medical, dental, life and supplemental insurance, student loan reimbursement program, paid parental leave, 401k with a 3% match, complimentary show tickets and food and gift shop discounts throughout the property.
