Friends of the Dennis Public Library Annual Meeting

Thursday, December 8 at 1pm

The combined Annual and Regular Meeting of The Friends of Dennis Public Library will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, December 8th in the library's Benjamin and Ruse Muse Meeting Room, 5 Hall Street, Dennis Port.

Members of the Friends are encouraged to attend and participate in the election of officers for 2022-2023. Interested Dennis residents and non-members are also welcome. Come and learn how your support helps ensure that the library will continue to be a welcoming destination for children, adults, residents and visitors.

Gratitude Holiday Puzzle

Kickoff is Wednesday, December 7th, 2pm-4pm

Help us build a Dennis Public Library Gratitude puzzle. Join us on Wednesday, Dec 7th at 2pm. Use paints or sharpies, in the library, to decorate the puzzle piece with something you are grateful for. The possiblies are endless. If you're not available, no worries, pieces will be available until December 21st to decorate in the library at your convience.

We will display the puzzle after the 21st.

English for Speakers of Other Languages

Fridays at 12:30pm

The library is holding informal sessions to learn Conversational English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) on Fridays at 12:30pm. Please call the library at 508-760-6219 or stop in for more information. 

December Art Display

Throughout the Month of December

Yarmouth Art Guild artists happily display their art in "December at the Dennis Public Library." Guild members selected a wide array of artworks to help celebrate the holidays and the onset of changing seasons. Come view this exhibition, and see scenes of local places you may recognize as well as some surprising subjects you may enjoy.

Call for Artists for 2023

The Dennis Public Library wants to show you off!

The Dennis Public Library is seeking new artists to display their “two-dimensional” work in the library’s busy meeting room. The library also has a largedisplay case in the main lobby suitable for showcasing three-dimensional work.These spaces are available together or separately. Show periods run for one calendar month and artists are welcome to hold an opening. If you are, or know of, an artist who has not shown at the library since our post-Covid reopening, please consider displaying at the library.
The library is located at 5 Hall Street in Dennisport.

Book Clubs

Tuesday, December 13th at 6:30pm - Mystery Book Club

This month the Mystery Book Club is reading Duck the Halls by Donna Andrews. This meeting is hybrid, online options are available. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in attending.

Wednesday, December 21st at 2:00pm - DPL Book Club 

This month the DPL Book Club is reading The Couple Next Door by Shari Lepena. This group meeting is in person at the library, but a Zoom option is available. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in participating.

Fun for the Kids!

Pre-school Story and Craft Time

Thursdays at 10:30am

Join Lisa, our Children's Librarian each Thursday for play time, fun stories, songs and a craft. All ages are welcome. No registration is required. Come and join the fun!

Holiday Craft

Weekly in December

Stop in the Children's room during regular hours and enjoy a holiday craft. There will be a different one each week. While supplies last. Approriate for ages 6 and up.

Happy Hoops Workshop

Saturday, December 17th, 10:30am-12:30pm

Facilitated by Jessee Coen of Happy Hoops

Create your own unique piece of embroidery hoop art. Children will use templates of precut felt, and learn some basic sewing skills. Appropriate for ages 8 +

Girls Who Code

Tuesdays, November - February, 4:30pm-6pm

What exactly is coding?

Coding is what makes it possible for us to create computer software, apps and websites. Your browser, your operating system, the apps on your phone, Facebook, and websites –they’re all made with code. We work on different activities each week that are fun and easy to follow along.
