Denver - The Denver Art Museum presents Personal Geographies: Trent Davis Bailey ? Brian Adams, an exciting selection of images by two artists who seek to understand themselves and the places they treasure through photography.

Personal Geographies will be on view from July 30, 2023, to Feb. 11, 2024, in the photography galleries, located on the 6th level of the museum’s Martin Building.

The exhibition is divided into two parts: the Delisa & Anthony Mayer Galleries will feature 32 photographs by Trent Davis Bailey while the Elizabeth & Evan Anderman and Holly & Allen Oliphant Gallery will spotlight 19 photographs by Brian Adams. Curated by Eric Paddock, Curator of Photography, in collaboration with Kimberly Roberts, Curatorial Associate at the DAM, Personal Geographies will be included in general admission and is free for everyone 18 and younger.

“The compelling images in Personal Geographies show how two different artists explore a personal connection to a particular place or region through photography,” said Christoph Heinrich, Frederick and Jan Mayer Director of the Denver Art Museum.

Colorado photographer Trent Davis Bailey reflects on his personal history and the relationship between images and memory. Personal Geographies presents work from his series The North Fork, which draws inspiration from childhood memories, small-scale family farms, and the landscape of western Colorado.

Anchorage-based Iñupiaq photographer Brian Adams has travelled across Alaska and beyond to make pictures that celebrate the Arctic landscape and sensitively share the stories, cultures, and perspectives of Inuit people and communities.

“The Brian Adams photographs in this exhibition are recent acquisitions,” said Paddock. “They encourage visitors to reflect on how climate change affects the landscapes and Indigenous communities of Alaska.”
