DODGERS ACTIVATE JULIO URÍAS

– The Los Angeles Dodgers activated left-handed pitcher Julio Urías from the 15-day injured list and optioned left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl.

Urías, 26, returns from the injured list after missing 36 games with a left hamstring strain. He pitched on Sunday afternoon for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga, tossing 4.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out eight batters. The left-hander is 5-4 with a 4.39 ERA (27 ER/55.1 IP) and 53 strikeouts in 10 starts this season. In eight seasons with the Dodgers, he is a combined 54-21 with a 2.95 ERA (215 ER/655.0 IP) and 646 strikeouts in 147 games (111 starts). Last season, he became the first Mexican born pitcher to lead the National League in ERA, posting a 2.16 ERA with a 17-7 record. He was originally signed by the Dodgers on August 17, 2012 as an international free agent.

Bruihl, 26, pitched a scoreless inning last night, extending his scoreless streak to five innings. He is 1-0 with a 3.72 ERA (8 ER/19.1 IP) and 15 strikeouts in 15 games for the Dodgers this season. In 60 games (two starts) for the Dodgers, he is 2-2 with a 3.50 ERA (24 ER/61.2 IP) and 39 strikeouts while limiting left-handed hitters to a .186 (21-for-113) batting average with 20 strikeouts. The southpaw was originally signed as non-drafted free agent on July 15, 2017 after finishing his collegiate career at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
