Dodgers Add Emmet Sheehan and Kolten Wong

Los Angeles, CA  – The Los Angeles Dodgers added right-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan and infielder Kolten Wong to the active roster. In order to make room on the 40-man roster the Dodgers outrighted infielder Yonny Hernández.

Sheehan, 23, returns for his second stint with the Dodgers after going 3-1 with a 5.63 ERA (24 ER/38.1 IP) and 30 strikeouts in eight games (seven starts) for the Dodgers. The right-hander began the season with Double-A Tulsa, going 4-1 with a 1.86 ERA (11 ER/53.1 IP) and 88 strikeouts in 12 games. With Triple-A Oklahoma City, he was 0-1 with a 5.59 ERA (6 ER/9.2 IP) and 14 strikeouts in three games (one start). Last season, he split the season between High-A Great Lakes and Double-A Tulsa, going a combined 7-2 with a 2.91 ERA (22 ER/68.0 IP) and 106 strikeouts. He appeared in the Arizona Fall League in 2022, posting a 3-1 record with a 3.54 ERA (8 ER/20.1 IP) and 24 strikeouts for the Glendale Desert Dogs. He was named the AFL Pitcher of the Week in Week 6 after going 1-0 with 10 strikeouts in five innings of work against the Peoria Javelinas. He has been in the Dodgers’ organization three years since being drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 First Year Player Draft out of Boston College and he is a combined 14-4 with a 2.95 ERA and 242 strikeouts in 146.2 innings.

Wong, 32, joins the Dodgers after starting the season with the Mariners. He made 67 appearances for Seattle, hitting .165 (32-for-216) with two homers and 19 RBI. Last season, he played 134 games with Milwaukee, clubbing a career-high 15 homers and driving in 47 for the Brewers. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of 11 seasons with St. Louis (2013-20), Milwaukee (2021-22) and Seattle (2022), slashing .256/.329/.389 with 84 homers and 397 RBI in 1,169 career games. He was originally drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1st round(22nd overall) of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out the University of Hawaii.
