DODGERS RECALL MICHAEL BUSCH

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled infielder Michael Busch and placed designated hitter J.D. Martinez on the injured list with groin tightness.

Busch, 25, returns for his third stint with the Dodgers after hitting .200 (9-for-45) with three doubles and four RBI in 15 games for the Dodgers this season. The infielder has appeared in 88 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, hitting .323 (114-for-356) with 23 doubles, 24 homers and 82 RBI. He has been with the Dodgers organization since being drafted in the first round (31st overall) of the 2019 First Year Player Draft out of the University of North Carolina. In four minor league seasons, he has a hit a combined .282 (377-for-1338) with 88 doubles, 76 homers and 259 RBI.

Martinez, 36, has appeared in 92 games, hitting .256 (90-for-351) with 23 doubles, 25 homers and 78 RBI. He was selected to his fifth straight All-Star team after slashing .255/.303/.570 with 22 homers and 62 RBI at the All-Star break. He has been in the Majors parts of 13 seasons with Houston (2011-13), Detroit (2014-17), Arizona (2017), Boston (2018-22) and Los Angeles (2023) and he has amassed 307 homers and 977 RBI with a career .288 batting average in 1,501 games. On June 27, he clubbed his 300th home run of his career in Colorado, becoming the 156th player in MLB history to accomplish the feat. He was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 20th round of the 2009 First Year Player Draft out of Nova Southeastern University.
