Dodgers Select Jake Reed

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Jake Reed and placed right-handed pitcher Michael Grove on the injured list with a right groin strain. In order to make room for Reed on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers placed Ryan Pepiot on the 60-day injured list. 

Reed, 30, made three appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City and he has allowed five runs in 2.1 innings. He made five appearances for the Dodgers in 2022, recording a save and posting a 1.93 ERA (1 ER/4.2 IP) with two strikeouts. He has been in the Majors parts of two seasons with Los Angeles (2021-22), New York (2021-2022) and Baltimore (2022) and he is a combined 2-1 with a 5.74 ERA (17 ER/26.2 IP) and 23 strikeouts. He was originally drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 2014 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Oregon in the fifth round. 

Grove, 26, made the start last night, allowing two runs on five hits in 3.0 innings before exiting the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. On the season, he is 0-1 with an 8.44 ERA (15 ER/16.0 IP) and 14 strikeouts in four starts. He has been with the Dodgers two seasons, and he is a combined 1-1 with a 5.96 ERA (30 ER/45.1 IP) and 38 strikeouts. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the second round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of the West Virginia University.
