LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to terms with right fielder Jason Heyward on a one-year contract for $9 million.

Heyward, 34, returns for his second season with the Dodgers after hitting .269 (90-for-334) with 15 homers and 40 RBI in 124 games. The Georgia native slashed .276/.347/.471 with 13 homers and 38 RBI against right-handed pitchers last season while posting a .974 fielding percentage with one assist in 769.0 innings in the outfield.

The four-time Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner has been in the Major Leagues 14 seasons with Atlanta (2010-14), St. Louis (2015), Chicago-NL (2016-2022) and Los Angeles (2023), hitting a combined .258 with 174 homers and 681 RBI. He made his Major League debut in 2010 as a 20-year-old for the Atlanta Braves, finishing second in the Rookie of the Year voting and making the All-Star team after hitting .277 with 18 homers and 72 RBI.

He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the first round (14th overall) of the 2007 First Year Player Draft out of Henry County High School (GA.)
