Dodgers Sign Shelby Miller

The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with right-handed pitcher Shelby Miller for $1.5 million dollars for the 2023 season.

Miller, 32, joins the Dodgers after appearing in four games with the San Francisco Giants and going 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA (5 ER/7.0 IP) in 2022. He spent most of the season with Triple-A Sacramento and Scranton-Wilkes Barre and went 2-4 with a 2.87 ERA (17 ER/53.1 IP) and 69 strikeouts.

He has been in the Major Leagues parts of 10 seasons with St. Louis (2012-14), Atlanta (2015), Arizona (2016-18), Texas (2019), Chicago (2021), Pittsburgh (2021) and San Francisco (2022) and he is combined 38-58 with a 4.21 ERA (364 ER/778.0 IP) and 644 strikeouts with 312 walks in 167 games (132 starts). He began his career with St. Louis, finishing third in the Rookie of the Year voting in 2013, going 15-9 with a 3.06 ERA (59 ER/173.1 IP) and 169 strikeouts. He was a National League All-Star in 2014 after being traded to Atlanta, going 6-17 with a 3.02 ERA (69 ER/205.1 IP) and 171 strikeouts with a league-best 33 starts.

The Texas native was drafted in the first round of the 2009 First Year Player Draft out of Brownwood High School by the St. Louis Cardinals.
