It's Showtime!

Nearly 60 RVs will be rolling into downtown El Dorado on Thursday, October 20th, for the fifth annual Airstreams on the Square. Main Street El Dorado partners with the Arkansas Razorback Airstream Club to host the campers. El Dorado is the first and only city in Arkansas to host such an event. The 2022 theme is "It's Showtime in El Dorado!", the tagline for El Dorado's Festival City brand.

Main Street El Dorado has plenty of activities lined up to help keep Airstreamers entertained while they are in town. Many of these events are open to the public and tickets are available for pre-purchase on their website.  Saturday morning brings the International Chili Society chili cookoff. All-you-can-eat chili samples will be on sale for $10 starting at 1 p.m., with participants voting for their favorite chili recipe at 3 p.m.

Airstreamers won’t be conducting RV tours this year, however, the public is invited to visit with campers and donate canned goods, which will go to the Salvation Army.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

College football returns to El Dorado this fall with the Murphy USA Classic. Now in its 12th year, the Classic is slated for Saturday, October 22nd, at Memorial Stadium. The Great American Conference game will pit the Ouachita Baptist University Tigers against the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders as the centerpiece of a weekend of football activities for students, alumni, and fans from around the state.

Tailgating activities are expected to begin around 11 a.m. on the grounds of Memorial Stadium and Fifth Street, with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. Stay up-to-date on event developments, ticket sales, and more on the Murphy USA Classic Facebook page.
