St. Johnsbury is one of the best places in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom to experience foliage season, with historic architecture, beautiful views, and a bustling downtown any day of the week. Make sure to visit for a Foliage Festival & Seasonal Fun all day long, and you'll be bound to fall in love with St. Johnsbury.

Activities on Main Street:

8am - 10:30am ~ Pancake Breakfast
At the Good Living Senior Center, 1207 Main Street
All-you-can-eat pancake breakfast by donation by St. Johnsbury Meals on Wheels. Includes pancakes and maple syrup from Maple Grove Farms of Vermont, sausage, home fries, scrambled eggs, and beverages. Proceeds benefit St. Johnsbury Meals on Wheels.


9am until sold out ~ Annual Pie Sale
At the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, 1171 Main Street
Organized by the Friends of the Athenaeum. $15 per homemade pie. Cookbooks will be available for purchase by donation. All proceeds will be donated to support the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum's programming & materials.

9am - 1pm ~ Secondhand Prose Bookstore Sidewalk Sale
At Secondhand Prose, 1222 Main Street
Organized by the Friends of the Athenaeum. All proceeds will be donated to support the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum's programming & materials.

9:30am - 1:30pm ~ Pumpkins & Mums Sale
At St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1265 Main Street
Also serving warm cider, hot cocoa, & coffee. All proceeds to benefit Vermont Flood Relief.

10am ~ Modern Times Theater's The Baffo Box Show
At St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, 1171 Main Street

11am ~ Bandstand Concert by St. Johnsbury Town Band
At Caledonia Courthouse Park, 1126 Main Street

10am - 4pm ~ St. J History & Heritage Open House
at St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center, at 421 Summer St.
Visit the St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center, open for special hours during the event. Check out the progress on the new exhibit hall!

10am - 1pm ~ Homebuyers Informational Open House
at Four Seasons SIR, 1184 Main St.

11am - 1pm ~ Fall Brunch
At United Community Church, UCC, 1325 Main Street
$10 per person for quiche, fruit salad, breads, seasonal beverages, and apple crisp. Proceeds benefit the United Community Church.

3pm ~ Guided Foliage Hike of Observatory Knob
Meet at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Parking Lot, 352 Mt. Pleasant Street
Free! Members of The Town's Observatory Knob Committee will lead a hike to the highest point in St. Johnsbury for exceptional foliage views. This is a short hike, but contains sections with steep grades. (Hike distance about 2.5 miles with approximately 400ft elevation gain.) The anticipated duration will be about 1.5 hours.  Bring bug spray, good shoes for hiking, be prepared for some tall grass and uneven ground during the hike. Weather permitting.

2pm - 4pm ~ First Annual Halloween Costume Swap
At Four Seasons Park, intersection of Main & Winter Streets
Free! All ages! Pick up a new-to-you Halloween costume at this event organized by the St. Johnsbury Halloween Parade Committee. Learn more here, including how to donate gently used costumes to the swap.

7pm ~ "Outer Space: 100 Poems"
At Fairbanks Museum in the Lyman Spitzer Planetarium, 1302 Main Street
Editor Midge Goldberg and contributors Robert Crawford and Martin Elster will read from the anthology 'Outer Space: 100 Poems', which includes poetry from poets, astronomers, and scientists from the 12th century BCE to today. Drop-in, all-ages craft to make a one-of-a-kind bandana. Decorate a fabric square with cyanotype print (sunprint), flower, or leaf prints with ink, or by transferring colors from plants to fabric by pounding them with a hammer!  $10. Learn more here.
