A one-day tribute to a town’s heritage has visitors headed to Red Bay in September for a day of free family fun.

Situated under the shade trees of Bay Tree Park, the annual Red Bay Founder’s Fest is set for Saturday, September 23, 2023 with contests, sidewalk sales and live music.

To give you a glimpse of what to expect, here is the itinerary for the 2023 festival:

The day long event kicks off with the King and Queen’s Train Ride at 8:30 a.m., from the winners of the beauty pageant that will be held on September 18 at Red Bay High School. Live music cranks up at 9 a.m. A contest to see who has the best fried pie entries with the best tasting, most unusual and best of show will take home a cash prize. There are a variety of contests for festival-goers to participate in, and include a quilt, coloring and photography contests.

Additional activities include arts and crafts and an antique car/truck/motorcycle/tractor show. The Red Bay Museum will be open for tours as well as the Weatherford Library will host a book sale and will also be open for the viewing of contest entries for the quilt, photo and coloring contest.  Many merchants will offer sidewalk sales, specials and door prizes throughout the day.

A variety of delicious festival food will be available and another crowd favorite is the giveaways. Prizes will be awarded to the largest family, longest distance traveled to the event and youngest and oldest attendees.

Bay Tree Park is located between 2nd and 3rd Streets, along 4th Avenue SE in Downtown Red Bay. The festival runs from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is free.
