Cortez, Fla. (September 1st, 2022) – Friends of the Florida Maritime Museum has been selected as a beneficiary of the Winn-Dixie Community Bag Program for the month of September.

The Winn-Dixie Community Bag Program, which launched in February 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.

Friends of the Florida Maritime Museum (FFMM) was selected as the September beneficiary of the program by store leadership at the Winn-Dixie located at 7400 44th Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida. FFMM will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.99 reusable Community Bag is purchased at this location during September, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

“The Friends are so appreciative of Winn-Dixie for this opportunity to bring more awareness to the Florida Maritime Museum,” said Karen Bell, President of Friends of the Florida Maritime Museum. “These generous dollars will support the museum’s mission to collect, preserve and share, traditional knowledge, cultural artifacts, and personal stories of Florida’s fishing and maritime heritage.”
