Government and Politics

October 18, 2022

From: Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen

LINCOLN – On Oct 13th, Governor Pete Ricketts announced that a key member of his cabinet will be transitioning to a role outside state government.  Lauren Hill Kintner has served as a member of the Governor’s cabinet as Director of the Governor’s Policy and Research Office for nearly 24 years.  Throughout her tenure, Kintner served as lead policy advisor and legal counsel to Governor Ricketts and his two predecessors, Governors Dave Heineman and Mike Johanns.

Prior to this position, Kintner served as an Assistant Attorney General for over five years under Attorney General Don Stenberg’s administration.

“Thank you to Lauren for her extensive service to the state of Nebraska,” said Governor Ricketts.  “She has helped the Executive Branch advocate for sound policy through three administrations, and her contributions have left a positive impact in Nebraska that will be felt for generations to come.  Lauren has been a valued advisor.  I look forward to what’s next for her.”

During her time as Director of the Policy Research Office, Kintner led the advancement of key policy initiatives on behalf of Nebraskans.  Those included ushering in tens of billions of dollars in tax relief; curbing state government expenditures; expanding services and support for Nebraskan veterans and law enforcement officers; and cutting regulation for Nebraska’s business owners and entrepreneurs.

Kintner led the Policy Research Office with a customer-first mindset, helping the Governor effectively work with the Legislative Branch and members of the public.  Her reputation as a strong coalition builder and tactical strategist was well-earned during her tenure as Director.

“It has been an immense honor and privilege to hold this position of public trust and responsibility,” said Kintner.  “I will always value the many special people with whom I’ve had the opportunity to work in the Nebraska State Capitol.”

Kintner’s transition is effective October 24, 2022.
