Her job requires her to be behind the scenes, but Lisa Nolen’s excellent work has landed her squarely in the spotlight. Nolen, the director of board relations, was named the February GCS Employee of the Month.

A member of the superintendent’s team, Nolen was recognized for her dedication, courteousness and attention to detail. She was nominated by board member T. Dianne Bellamy Small, who wrote: “Ms. Nolen has shouldered her tremendous responsibilities to the Board and Superintendent with the highest level of professionalism. She is meticulous and hard-working. She goes above and beyond to make sure that board business is appropriately handled. She works late, weekends and whenever she is needed. Lisa's work is very important to the District and her efforts are not always recognized. She handles herself with grace and a quiet strength that should be commended. I am proud and honored to recognize her selfless contributions to GCS and the community. She is one of our unsung heroes in GCS.”

Nolen received a $50 gift card courtesy of the Greensboro Jaycees, which generously sponsors the Employee of the Month program. Her photo will be displayed at the district’s central offices and at the Greensboro Jaycees office during the month of February.
