CREATIVE CHRISTMAS COOKIES WITH KAY BENAROCH

Kay will spark a joy of baking with delicious not-your-ordinary Christmas cookie recipes! In this class, we will make Pistachio and Cherry Biscotti, Brownie Mix Cookies, Cape Cod Cranberry Bars, and Fancy Bite sized Shortbread cookies (shortbread balls with toffee bits rolled in Chocolate Sugar).
We’ll end class with a cookie tasting! You’ll leave the class with some of our special cookies, our recipes, and the knowledge to recreate them at home. Cookies make great gifts, party favors, stocking stuffers, and holiday centerpieces. Get ready to BAKE!

Highfield continues to be transformed into Holidays Through the Generations. This year’s festive trimmings are crafted and curated by the creative genius of designers Sandra Cavallo & Sarah Pring. Begin your holiday season with joy and merriment at Highfield as you explore vignettes inspired from different decades starting in the late 19th century and spanning through the 1940s, 50s, 60s, and 70s into modern day as the DIY movement.
Join us for the Members Preview on November 21st! We look forward to hosting this special membership evening and thanking you personally for your support.
The house will open to the public begining Friday, November 24, 2023, for three consecutive weekends. The cost per person during open dates are as follows:
$10.00 per individual member or non-member
Children under 17 are free

HOLIDAYS AT HIGHFIELD STORY TIME
We invite children of all ages to join our story tellers each Saturday & Sunday for a cozy experience on our 2nd floor.
This drop in experience will delight all who attend.
Story times will be on each half hour for the dates listed below:

Enjoy this classic holiday fun decorating Gingerbread Houses! This family fun workshop allows the parent and child to pair together and decorate their own gingerbread house. Enjoy endless decorating options from candy shingles to gummy panes, and pretzel fences, you will turn your Gingerbread House into a one-of-a-kind edible work-of-art! All materials including the freshly baked house, frosting and many candy varieties will be provided for you. Celebrate the season and create your memories with this wonderful family activity!

Enjoy a relaxing evening creating festive felted Christmas ornaments!
These bright and merry decorations will level up your Christmas tree! They also make great gifts, can be used as additions to wreaths, or as keepsakes to embellish gift wrapping. Cheryl Flett of FabFunFiber will lead you through making wool fiber into fab, fun, festive creations!
In this workshop you’ll create your own felted Christmas ornaments to take home. Come with a friend, bring your tween or teen artisan, or just enjoy an evening with some fellow creative spirits! All materials will be provided.

Learning to make a loaf of bread in under two hours is a gift to yourself, and you can then turn it into a gift for others! Participants will leave this workshop with a loaf of freshly baked bread as well as a bowl and a whisk to use at home. A GENTLE REMINDER TO LEAVE THE LEAVES
A maxim is a brief expression of a general truth or rule of conduct. The maxim “leave the leaves” has become quite popular as of late, with the implication that is better to leave the leaves in the garden than to take them away, and it is true.
Leaf litter is a fertilizer, mulch and compost all in one. Some folks take the “leave the leaves “ literally and let them lay where they fall but I, as a gardener, take a more practical approach of recycling, reusing and repurposing the leaves.
It is certainly fine to leave the leaves in large planting beds of trees and shrubs, but a thick layer of leaves on lawns and formal gardens can do more harm than good. Leaves here can be raked and composted, mulched with a lawn mower and returned to the garden or gathered and used as winter protection around plants susceptible to winter damage.
Recycle, reuse, repurpose, all with the intention not to redo!
