PAPERCUTTING WORKSHOP
PAPERCUTTING "TREE OF LIFE"
Monday, June 27
10:00 am - 12:30 pm
$40 (members)/ $50
Learn a beloved folk tradition of many cultures. Using simple techniques and materials, you’ll learn basic papercut methods and you’ll create at least one papercut to take home. This class is for anyone with or without artistic experience.
The instructor, Tamar Shadur, is an experienced teacher with degrees in Art Education and a MEd. in ESL.Tamar is a tapestry designer and weaver who offers papercutting workshops as a way to pass on her late mother’s expertise and legacy.
Children 3rd grade and up, accompanied by an adult are welcome!

The Guild of American Papercutters Reception
on Sunday, June 26th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
This expertly curated event explores the time-honored tradition of papercutting. Enjoy a beverage and safely social distance with other patrons as you wander through the house, experience artist demonstrations, and discover the remarkable craftsmanship of this art form.
Understory refers to the rich variety of life and activity found near and on the forest floor, where little sun penetrates. The Guild of American Papercutters (GAP) members explore the literal and figurative understory, as well as hidden, underground, or underwater ecosystems.
The Guild of American Papercutters is a membership-based community that promotes awareness, heritage preservation and advancement of the art of papercutting.
This benefit is for current members and artists featured in the show.
If you have friends who are not members, but are interested in joining or rejoining, please bring them to the event. They can join during the reception.

These accompanying images (below) depict the cutting and organization process of Give Chase by artist Jennifer Hudson. She combines several layers of cut paper to attain highly detailed three-dimensional works.
Her tools are X-Acto knives and Canson Mi-teintes paper.
