Live Music All Weekend!

GRATEFUL DUB - Friday Sept. 22 - 5:00 pm

RoC (Roots of Creation) has taken on a unique new project: Grateful Dub: a Reggae-infused tribute to the Jerry Garcia & The Grateful Dead. Combining their longtime love for Reggae-Dub style music and the Grateful Dead, RoC reworked some of the world’s favorite Dead tunes into a new studio album. RoC had the pleasure of working in the studio with the legendary 5-time Grammy winner Errol Brown who was Bob Marley’s sound engineer for this project. Grateful Dub is also being performed live in its entirety at festivals, theatres, and clubs around the country, and features rotating live special guests that has included Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Band), Scott Guberman (Phil Lesh), Zach Nugent, RyMo, AG, & Paul W. (Slightly Stoopid), G. Love (G. Love & Special Sauce), Mihali (Twiddle), Dan Kelly (Fortunate Youth) and others. Grateful Dub captures the spirit and magic of the Grateful Dead, while laying it down Reggae-Dub style.

DEADBEAT - Friday Sept. 22 - 8:00 pm

Hey Now! Welcome to the online studio of DeadBeat, a jam band that brings alive the sound and style of the Grateful Dead, The Jerry Garcia Band & all of the music that Dead Heads love to hear! Performing in Greater Boston, Metro West and Southern New Hampshire since 2005, Deadbeat delivers an upbeat vibe that will keep you on your feet and dancing all night! Night time only tickets for DeadBeat available. DeadBeat is 6 pieces (Drums, Bass, Keyboards, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar & Vocalist) consisting of seasoned musicians each with 3+ decades of experience & with national and international gigging and recording credentials. We have a groovin’ dance vibe with a rock edge and feature strong 3 part vocal harmony and instrumental soloists. We perform the original music of the Grateful Dead and it’s family of bands, as well as music as covered by those groups. The band was formed in 2005 when drummer Joe Pulitano answered a Craig’s List ad and joined former members of the Tinmen Brian Stormwind & Gary Barth to form a new band that focused on their mutual love of the music of The Grateful Dead and the Jam Band sound and experience. The newly formed DeadBeat played their first gig in late 2005. Feeling that the lineup worked well, they took early 2006 to focus on developing their sound, learning and growing together, and working towards their expressed goal of being a “live” act and fulfill their desire to share their music by playing out as much as possible. By the fall of 2006 the band had jelled, and regular gigging followed.

FORTUNATE YOUTH - Saturday Sept. 23 - 2:30 pm

From backyard BBQs in Southern California beach towns to its rise as one of the most popular reggae rock bands in the country, Fortunate Youth remains devoted to its roots and a simple mission: Spread peace, love, and unity with music. It’s a mantra of sorts for the multi-faceted sextet from Hermosa Beach, driving a relentless thirst for live performances and an ever-evolving cache of original material dotted with influences of blues, ska, rock, world, soul, and punk. Now in 2021, with a fifth studio set, Good Times (Roll On), Fortunate Youth is hoping to rekindle the spirit of those halcyon days, grillin’ and chillin’, and to reunite, once again, with their fans worldwide. It was first on SoCal Little League fields that the core of the group bonded as friends and brothers before forming the band as twenty-somethings in the summer of 2009. Out of the ashes of local favorites Rude Boy Roots and Irie State of Mind, Fortunate Youth emerged, graduating from house parties to prized area clubs; and sneaking underage band members into South Bay bars to play their ambitious sets. They developed an instantly magnetic repertoire around inspired nascent originals and covers of Sublime and Bob Marley, and expanded their circle of fans with early runs in the Golden State and to neighboring Arizona. They became devoted to performing live, ticking off countless miles in the van crisscrossing the U.S., and logging two years of roadwork before recording their first album. They played to small but passionate crowds, slept on floors, and earned particularly rabid responses in Florida and the cannabis-friendly ski towns of Colorado. And true to their egalitarian ethos of brotherhood, even swapped spots onstage, rotating instruments to best fit the performance. As their popularity increased, so did their schedule, with F.Y. supporting brethren such as Slightly Stoopid, Stick Figure, and SOJA on major tours as well as continuing to headline national treks of their own; totaling over 27 tours since their inception. Including the forthcoming Good Times, Fortunate Youth has also catalogued over a dozen releases - ten LPs and EPs, studio and live combined, and several singles - since their 2011 debut, Irie State of Mind; notably, all have been recorded, produced, and distributed, in DIY style, by the self-invested band. After Irie peaked at #2, their next next three studio sets - 2013’s It’s All a Jam; 2015’s Don’t Think Twice; 2017’s Fortunate Youth - each hit #1 on Billboard and ITunes Reggae charts, and landed in the Top 25 of several others. 2017’s self-titled effort, in particular, remained in the Top 10 for five weeks, reaching #9 on iTunes Overall chart. Now, with the glistening title track, “Good Times (Roll On),” as the album’s lead single, Fortunate Youth turns a slightly nostalgic eye to its humble beginnings in the backyard, plus a few new tasty surprises under the lid. Also, there’s a wish: that the return of those feel-good vibes finds brighter days for the planet. “We’re trying to change the world through the music we write and play, and the lives we live out performing onstage,” says singer Dan Kelly. “We always hope our music can change the outlook of anyone’s day.”

MIGHTY MYSTIC - Saturday September 23 - Noon

Mighty Mystic will be performing on the outdoor stage among the cannabis exhibitors for open consumption on Saturday Afternoon. Mighty Mystic is considered as one of the leaders in the U.S. Reggae scene and labeled by many as one of the more prolific artists to develop outside of Jamaica. He has gripped the scene with ferocious conviction and an uncanny ambition worthy to be mentioned among the greats. He has gone from being a fan of reggae music to being a contributor to the art. Mighty Mystic came on the scene in 2006 after scoring his first international hit with the song “Riding on the Clouds.” However, it wasn’t until the release of his first album “Wake up the World” (2010) that he became a household name. “Wake up the World” boasted several standouts, such as “Revolution,” “Riding on the Clouds,” “Original Love,” and “Slipped Away” with appearances from reggae icon Shaggy and roots rocker Lutan Fyah. Mystic continues to wake up the world with his high energy, message driven brand of reggae music which he emphatically calls “HARD ROOTS.” It is this unique spin on classic reggae blended with Hip Hop & Rock that has catapulted him to the forefront of today’s Reggae Revival. Mighty Mystic is also the younger brother of current Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness. When asked, does being the brother of Prime Minister Holness have any impact on your music? Mystic simply says “Andrew has a job to do and so do I, impact or not we both have our own mission to complete”.

NRBQ - Sunday Sept. 24 - 2:30 pm

“One of the world’s greatest bands ... an American treasure.” -- Entertainment Weekly NRBQ is Terry Adams, Scott Ligon, Casey McDonough, and John Perrin. “NRBQ”, which stands for New Rhythm and Blues Quartet, has often been called a national treasure, which may be why the band’s music has attracted legions of devoted fans worldwide, including Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Costello, Penn & Teller, Doc Pomus, R.E.M., SpongeBob SquarePants, Michael J. Pollard, Ian McLagan, Steve Earle, Drew Carey, and Nick Lowe, among many others. NRBQ songs have inspired cover versions by Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos, Darlene Love, Dave Edmunds, She & Him, Widespread Panic, Yo La Tengo, and more. The group served as the unofficial "house band" for The Simpsons for Seasons 10-12. They appeared as zombies in George Romero’s movie Day of the Dead. They have appeared at the Berlin Jazz Festival, the Grand Ole Opry, and Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival. In their 50+ year career, NRBQ has released almost as many albums, including a series of critically acclaimed titles in the past decade, among them Keep This Love Goin’ (2011), Brass Tacks (2014), and the 5-disc, 50-year retrospective, High Noon (2016). Of the brand-new studio album Dragnet, released at the end of 2021, Bill Bentley in Americana Highways says, “They play with such startling and powerful simplicity, a style that must be earned and not learned,” while Uncut says, “[it’s] as though the history of 20th-century popular and unpopular music has gone through thorough, playful distillation.” “For more than 50 years, they have conjured a slippery blend of early R&B, hardcore country, novelty songs and rockabilly by seizing the improvisational energy of jazz.” – Washington Post "From the time of their debut album, the group distinguished itself with its all-encompassing fusion of rock, pop, jazz, rhythm and blues, folk, and country from past and present. A sense of humor and a penchant for spontaneity and invention have also served them well. Surf-rock, rockabilly, doo-wop, pop, and classics from Elvis Presley to Al Jolson - they're all here. Such a diversity of material might hinder the cohesiveness of another rarities collection, but in NRBQ's case, it makes perfect sense given the band's rich musical lineage." —The Second Disc "Just the fact that NRBQ has been around for over fifty years is pretty amazing. Can you believe they've never put out a collection of rarities and unreleased tracks? It's true. You've got to hand it to the ArQive 50 crew because they somehow put together a cohesive collection of tunes from a band that has never been able to settle on a style long enough for any rock critic - let alone fan - to pigeonhole them. As I have said in previous NRBQ reviews (and as any fan will attest) that's a big part of what makes the Q so great." —NuDisc " ... exuberant eclecticism and offhand virtuosity and inventiveness ... NRBQ can refresh even the most familiar songs - and do it without a trace of irony while exuding the infectious joy that has been the hallmark of all their music-making." —Philadelphia Inquirer “A perfect combination of genius and joy.” -- Jad Fair “See them and get a rage to live.” –M.C. Kostek “Inventing music right before our ears.” –Blurt “NRBQ consistently discover real musical light in the darkest of souls.” –Hal Willner “NRBQ have always been cool with being uncool which is, perhaps ironically, what makes them so damn cool.” - Glide Magazine

BOB EGGLETON - ALL WEEKEND

Bob Eggleton is an American science fiction, fantasy, and horror artist. Eggleton has been honored with the Hugo Award for Best Professional Artist eight times, first winning in 1994. He also won the Hugo Award for Best Related Book in 2001 for his art book "Greetings From Earth". He has also won the Chesley Award for Artistic Achievement in 1999 and was the guest of honor at Chicon 2000.Eggleton's drawing and paintings cover a wide range of science fiction, fantasy, and horror topics, depicting space ships, alien worlds and inhabitants, dragons, vampires, and other fantasy creatures. His view on space ships were that they should look organic, and claimed that as a child, he was disappointed with the space shuttles and rockets NASA produced; they were nothing like fantasy artists of the twenties and thirties had promised. His fascination with dragons originated with his childhood interest of dinosaurs, which can be seen in the book Greetings From Earth. His paintings are commissioned and bought at science fiction conventions, and used as book covers. Eggleton has illustrated cards for the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game. Eggleton received massive encouragement from his father, in the form of books, supplies, visits to museums of space and aeronautics and support during the career choices he made. Eggleton dropped out of his art college, because he felt it was not for him. Eggleton is a fan of Godzilla, has illustrated numerous comics, magazines and children's books based on the character and worked as a creative consultant on the American remake. While in Japan he appeared as an extra in one of the more recent films.Asteroid 13562 was named BobEggleton in his honor.

MARIANNE PLUMRIDGE - ALL WEEKEND

Marianne Plumridge is an Australian-born artist and writer who lives in Rhode Island, USA, with her husband, illustrator Bob Eggleton. They share their home with over 1,000 Godzilla monster toys, and just as many dinosaurs, dragons, and other odd beasties and creature figurines. The rest of the house is occupied by numerous books, paintings, art materials, and CDs. It really is a creative atmosphere, where inspiration is never lost for long. In the last few years, Marianne has returned to her fine art roots by refining her oil painting techniques. As well as painting natural subjects, Marianne has combined birds and robots into an ongoing series of 'technology lost in nature' paintings that include quirky tin toy robot adventures, to great acclaim. Her other ongoing concurrent themes of cosmic whales and pointy rocket-ship paintings still enjoy success and popular favor. The results can be found online at: 'Daub du Jour' - http://daubdujour.blogspot.com/ Even more recently, Marianne has revived her interest in painting figurative works and portraits. Her experimental, 'self-testing' exploration of painting people again continues apace. In connection with her long held writing ambitions, Marianne writes book reviews and notes on her second Blog, 'Muse du Jour' - http://musedujour.blogspot.com/ Finished works of fiction have found their way into magazines and anthologies over the years, as well as articles and essays. Currently, Marianne continues to work on writing the nearly complete text for a book called "Bob Eggleton's Ice Age America" for Impossible Dreams Press, in collaboration with her husband. It will feature essays and epic artwork and visions of prehistoric peoples, megafauna, and flora
