From: The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County
The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) strongly condemns the New York City Board of Education and its District 14 Community Education Council for the misuse of school resources to promote a rally that included Jewish genocidal content. District 14 Community Education Council, utilizing school board data and resources, contacted students from more than 100 schools to attend an antisemitic rally. The communication aimed to encourage participation in a rally, and students were encouraged to use slogans such as "From the River to the sea, Palestine will be free." This chant implies the annihilation of Israel.

It is a violation of state regulations for a school district and its community education council to use their platform and resources to promote any form of political speech, let alone Jew-hatred. The promotion of slogans that advocate for the elimination or displacement of any specific group of people does not align with the values of inclusivity and respect that the law requires from our educational institutions. Such actions undermine the principles of diversity and tolerance that are essential in shaping well-rounded individuals and preparing them for a harmonious society.

We call upon the New York City Board of Education to investigate the District 14 Community Education Council and take appropriate action to ensure that such misuse of school resources and the promotion of divisive ideologies are not repeated.

It is crucial that our educational institutions serve as safe spaces where students can learn, grow, and develop a deep appreciation for diversity and cultural understanding. HMTC stands in solidarity with all communities affected by this incident. We reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful educational environment. We demand the New York City Board of Education and the District 14 Community Education Council stop fostering a hostile environment for its Jewish students and engage in proactive measures to address this issue immediately.

Together, we can work towards creating an educational system that upholds the values of unity, tolerance, and respect for all.
