7th Annual Homewood Public Library Student Art Contest

September 1- 30

(K-12th Grade) The Homewood Public Library seeks to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of local Jefferson County students. Students may submit one original work of art produced within the last 12 months. Pieces must be exhibition ready and weigh less than 50lbs. Artwork should be dropped off in the Children's Department by Saturday, September 30, with an entry form attached to the back of the work. Artwork will be judged by a panel of local artists with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners selected for various grade categories (K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th,12th). Due to limited space, not all artwork will be selected for display. Accepted entries will be displayed in Homewood Library's Ellenburg Art Gallery during the month of October. Book Vs. Movie Club: The Hunger Games

(6th-12th Grade) Books are turned into movies all the time. It's a common thing to say the book is always going to be better than that movie, but why don't we test that concept! Join us for Book Vs. Movie club: a club for teens to watch a movie then read the book and have a book club discussion about the differences, similarities, and anything else that comes up! Teen Theatre Thursdays

Thursday, September 7 & 21, from 4-5 p.m. in Room 116

(6th-12th Grade) This bi-monthly program will focus on teaching the performing arts to aspiring teen thespians with assistance from the Red Mountain Theatre. Register online at www.homewoodpubliclibrary.org.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB)

(6th-12th Grade) The Teen Advisory Board is a volunteer group of 6th-12th graders who are dedicated to serving the Homewood Public Library. Character Design 101

Friday, September 8 & 22, from 4-5 p.m. in Room 109

(6th-12th Grade) Kane Bourgeois is here to teach you the ins and outs of drawing characters! Learn the basics of character design, color theory, and more. Tweens Craft On Homeschoolers

Magic: the Gathering for Teens

(6th-12th Grade) Interested in learning about Magic: the Gathering? Each game represents a battle between wizards known as “planeswalkers”, who employ spells, artifacts, and creatures depicted on individual Magic cards to defeat their opponents. Friday Night Crochet Circle

(4th-12th Grade) Tweens and teens, welcome to Friday night crochet circle! This is a monthly event where we will sit our chairs in circles, and crochet together. Experienced masters and complete newbies both are both welcome. We will provide all supplies, but you are also welcome to bring any projects you are currently working on. Frog Dissection with Dynamic Education Adventures
