Congratulations to James Hart Band Director Matt Johnson for being named--by his peers--as one of Chicagoland's best music educators!

Good Luck, Special Olympics Athletes!

District 153 wishes the best of luck to all the athletes competing in Saturday's Illinois Special Olympics Spring Games in South Holland. We are #153PROUD!!!

Above, athletes from James Hart get a little encouragement from classmates in the form of homemade posters.

Author Previews New Work at Willow School

On May 4th, Mrs. Homrich’s 1st-grade class welcomed author Tracy Watland back to Room 29 at Willow School—welcomed “back” because Watland was once a student in that very classroom! She treated the students to readings of her latest books, including the world premiere of “Abby’s Magic Music: Carried Away” due out in August.

Students' Home Libraries Get a Boost

The bright green trucks from Bernie's Book Bank pulled up to our schools on April 26th to deliver free books for our PreK through 6th-grade students! It’s always so much fun for our students to discover which books are in their bags and to trade books with friends. Thank you, Bernie’s Book Bank!

"Day of the Child" Celebrated

District 153 observed the "Day of the Child" on April 28th with fun, reading-centered fun! Among the activities, Churchill students dressed up like characters in their all-school read, "City Spies," and Willow School preschoolers and their loved ones practiced yoga with Serendipity Yoga and Wellness' Liz Smith.
