Kelly: Two Johnson County projects could deliver 8,800 new jobs in the next 16 years

- Over the next 16 years, Johnson County could benefit from as many as 8,800 new permanent and temporary high-earning jobs thanks to the New Century Commerce Center and Spectrum's new retention center.

- On Tuesday morning, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly visited the groundbreaking for the first phase of the New Century Commerce Center's 9.5 million-square-foot expansion. The project will bring an estimated 4,700 permanent jobs and 3,500 construction jobs during the next 16 years, according to a release.

- Kelly also visited the opening of the Spectrum Retention Center at 8501 W. 137th St. in Overland Park. After a $19 million investment, the one-story, 80,768-square-foot building is expected to house more than 600 new positions.
