Arts and Entertainment

August 22, 2022

From: Institute Of Contemporary Art Museum

Dear ICA LA Community,

Summer is winding down and there are only two more weeks to catch our current exhibition The Condition of Being Addressable, co-curated by Legacy Russell and Marcelle Joseph. Don’t miss this extraordinary group show of 25 international and intergenerational artists whose work constitutes an ongoing exploration of bodies in exposure and the ever-evolving performance of language.

On the evening of Wednesday, August 31, multidisciplinary artist Young Joon Kwak will give an Artist POV Tour of The Condition of Being Addressable. Kwak is the founder of Mutant Salon, a roving beauty salon/platform for collaborative performances and installations with their community of queer, trans, femme, POC artists and performers.

Check out our new extended hours and come by and visit us!

See you soon,

Team ICA LA

LEARNING & ENGAGEMENT

We are so honored to have been selected as a Gucci Changemakers Impact Fund recipient! More than 200 organizations and 400 students applied to the program, and 12 non-profits and 12 students were awarded funding. As a member of the #GucciChangemakers community, we will receive a one-year grant of $50,000 to support Agency of Assets (AoA), ICA LA's creative workforce program for high school youth to discover and access opportunities in the arts.

Since launching in 2019, the Gucci Changemakers Scholars Program and Gucci Changemakers Impact Fund have invested almost $3 million in multi-year grant funding to organizations and students working to promote social good in diverse communities throughout North America.

Agency of Assets (AoA) is an initiative designed to propel local youth into leadership roles in the arts through employment opportunities, sustained mentorship, and hands-on experience. Organized by ICA LA Director of Learning and Engagement Asuka Hisa, in partnership with youth organization Legacy LA, and various arts organizations, Agency of Assets provides East LA high school students with paid summer jobs in the creative sector, as well as workshops, excursions, and one-on-one consultation.
