Bigger And Better Than Ever Before.

The Iowa Ag Expo will inspire you with the biggest names and newest innovations in agriculture. With more than 700 exhibitors spanning 7.25 acres, the Iowa Ag Expo is the third largest indoor ag show in the country—and it’s right in your backyard!

While you’re here, check out the series of education presentations called AgTalks in the Convention Center Rooms 301 and 311 for a deep dive into specific ag topics.

No need to travel far to see the latest farm equipment, high tech electronics and precision agriculture when the Iowa Ag Expo brings the biggest names and newest innovations to Des Moines each winter.

The Iowa Ag Expo – the 3rd largest indoor ag show in the United States – annually hosts nearly 700 exhibitors spanning 7.7 acres, 3 buildings and 7 floors across the Iowa Events Center. These ag manufacturers and suppliers come from across the country and around the world to display the best ag has to offer, from big iron, precision ag, aerial imaging and livestock production, to inputs, data management and more.

Farmers across the Midwest attend this pure ag expo to kick some tires, see the latest innovations and compare products side-by-side. Free seminars led by industry experts throughout the show are popular as well, covering topics like UAVs, estate planning, water quality, and weather and commodity trends.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 31st, 2023

10:00 a.m. – Room 301: Family Farm Succession Planning: Be Remembered for the Planning You Did, Not the Planning You Didn’t Do | Ryan Swalwell, CPA, RICP | Heartland Financial Resource Group

This session will provide education and resources for farm families planning to transition the farm to the next generation. In addition to basic estate and business succession strategies, the speaker will cover recent legislative updates and the use of Charitable Remainder Trusts and Buy-Sell concepts often utilized by farm families. If your farm may be changing hands in the next 5, 10, or 15 years, this session is one you won’t want to miss!

An educational seminar touching on the role that microbes play in your soil, as well as the importance of root health. Also, learn about how our biological product, containing over 800 species of microbes, increases your fertilizer efficiency and maximizes your nutrient efficiency.

1:00 p.m. – Room 311: Immigration Options for Farmers and Agribusinesses | JoAnn Barten, Immigration Lawyer, Barten Lantz, P.C.

Experienced immigration attorneys, JoAnn Barten and Trisha Floyd Nielsen of Barten Lantz, P.C., Immigration Lawyers will provide attendees valuable information on the most common types of immigration programs available to farmers and on-farm service agribusinesses. The programs covered will be the H-2A seasonal or temporary program, the NAFTA TN program, and the PERM residency program. Typical occupations include general farm workers, ag-equipment operators, detasselers, truck drivers, animal breeders, animal scientists, and farm managers by way of example. Practical information on the requirements of each program and how to get started will be covered.

2:00 p.m. – Room 301: Growing season 2023: Finally, Post-La Niña? Current Conditions, Climatological Outlooks and Implications on Drought. | Dr. Justin Glisan, State Climatologist of Iowa, Iowa Dept. of Agriculture & Land Stewardship

The Midwest may finally have its first summer without the impacts of La Niña after a three-year stretch. Current conditions, soil moisture and drought implications for Iowa and the Midwest will be discussed along with possible implications for agriculture.

2:00 p.m. – Room 311: The Year Ahead: Agricultural Law & Policy Issues Impacting Producers | Jennie Zwagerman, Director of Drake University’s Agricultural Law Center and an Associate Professor of Law, Drake University Law School

This session will highlight what agricultural producers should know regarding several key law and policy issues impacting you and the broader industry, including the upcoming Farm Bill negotiations, animal welfare, and water law, property ownership and rights, intellectual property, and food safety.
