With your support we did it - we raised $80,604 in Aug/Sept. 112 people contributed to the end of the fiscal year campaign and together we reached our goal - thank you! These funds will help Kala to continue to support artists, engage the community, and invest in creative exchange.

New Adult Classes

Check out some of our new class offerings! We?ve been working hard to introduce fresh voices and experiences to our Adult Class line-up by adding new instructors

The Expressive Print: Intro to Letterpress with Mary V. Marsh

Saturdays, Oct 21 - Nov 4, 10am-3pm in the Kala Printmaking Studio

Through examples and ideas, we will talk about combining words and images to create an expressive print. Using a Vandercook proof press, we will learn to hand set lead and wood type, carve images with linoleum, and combine them into a small edition of a two-color letterpress print.

Linocut Printing: Pattern Design on Fabric & Clothing with Alyssa Aviles

Saturdays, Oct 28 - Nov 4, 10am-1pm in the Kala Printmaking Studio

Students will learn the process of designing and carving an image on to a piece of linoleum, and other methods of printing patterns on fabric. Students are encouraged to think experimentally with their printing surfaces and are invited to bring clothing to up-cycle with their designs or print on a large piece of fabric that can be used for a future project.

Screenprinting as Painting II with Leonard Reidelbach

Sundays, Nov 12 & 19, 10am-4pm in the Kala Printmaking Studio

Using the foundations from Screenprinting as Painting I, participants will develop their own two or three layer print with support from the instructor. There will be an emphasis on exploring strategies to make one-of-a-kind iterations across a collection of prints, including monoprinting, reductive printmaking, and advanced color mixing
