Government and Politics

From: Kansas Governor Laura Kelly

Governor Kelly Ceremonially Signs Bill to Make Child Care More Affordable and Accessible

“We’re making child care more accessible and affordable to make life easier for our working parents. The case for Kansas businesses to take advantage of these tax credits is clear: Providing child care helps employers attract more job candidates, retain quality employees, and create a diverse, engaged workforce.”

Governor Kelly Continues Fiscal Responsibility with Nearly $1 Billion Rainy Day Fund

“When I first came into office, Kansas had no savings, and in fact, was going into debt every year. My Administration worked to put Kansas on a consistent path of fiscal stability and economic growth. That work has paid off. This past fiscal year, we were able to save for the future in record numbers, fully fund K-12 education, make historic investments in law enforcement and higher education, and axe taxes – all without going into debt.”

Governor Kelly Announces Increased Funding to Double Impact of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Programs in Kansas

“We know that one of the most important factors for early childhood learning and development is an early introduction to books and being read to at home. Kansas community organizations currently connect more than 42,500 children with the gift of books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library each month. This new funding will enable the program to reach even more Kansas children.”

Governor Kelly Signs Multi-State Commitment to Expand Computer Science Education

“Promoting K-12 computer science education is one more way my Administration is working to prepare our students for the future. Joining this compact, training our teachers, and expanding computer science courses will help keep Kansas competitive in attracting business and growing our economy.”
