Family First Friday

Friday, February 2nd from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Join Kidzu’s Makery team for FREE themed STEMonstrations! This month, join Kidzu’s Makery team for STEMonstrations about Brilliant Botany! Kidzu is proud to have earned a 2023 NC GlaxoSmithKline Foundation Ribbon of Hope award, which will make STEAM and Kidzu’s makerspace, The Makery, accessible to all! Family First Fridays feature free all-day museum admission with a range of facilitated STEMonstrations by real world scientists, artists, and makers! Additional support from the Grable Foundation and the NC Science Museum Grant Program.

Admission is FREE to everyone visiting the museum and Open Play Sessions at The Nest.

Free Supported Playgroups

Tuesdays, 8:30-10:00 (Virtual), 10:30-12:00 (in-person)
Wednesdays, 8:30-10:00, 10:30-12:00 (in-person)

Kidzu Children’s Museum’s new Early Learning Environment, The Nest, is the only Orange County Affiliate hosting Kaleidoscope Play & Learn Supported Playgroups for children ages birth – 3 and their caregivers. Playgroups aim to support all Orange County caregivers not otherwise enrolled in licensed child care. There will be virtual options for families living in North Orange, or outside the public bus line. Each session consists of: Guided learning activities for infants, toddlers, and caregivers, Integration of early literacy and STEM activities into daily routines, connecting with other local caregivers, a focus on caregiver and child health and wellness, and Spanish interpretation available at every session. This program is FREE for residents of Orange County.

Breastfeeding Café

Mondays from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Join Kidzu and La Leche League for a meet-up where mothers can ask one another questions, offer and receive support, and make connections. Bring your babies and toddlers along with you! Offered on Mondays from 10 AM - 11 AM. This FREE program takes place in The Nest at Kidzu.

Stories and Songs

Tuesday, January 30th from 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Join us in Kidzu's Forest Theater to read, sing and play! Stories & Songs is a fun early literacy experience and spotlights a variety of books and themes.

This program is included with admission.

Coming Up

Valentine's Workshop: Chocolateworks

Saturday, February 10th from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Wednesday, February 14th from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Join us for Chocolateworks - an afternoon full of taste-testing, gift-making, and chocolate! We will make chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate spoons for hot cocoa, and chocolate rose bouquets in vases you decorate to give to your valentine. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Space is limited. Additional adults are welcome, with the understanding that there is limited seating. Tickets are $25 per child. This program is for children ages 4 - 10.

Lunar New Year Celebration

Saturday, February 10th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with a Mandarin storytime and craft. Thank you to Wei Song, UNC CHIN 441 Students, and Bonnie Wang and the Durham Academy Students!

This event is included with admission.

Parents' Night Out

Saturday, February 10th from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Parents, you deserve a night out! Leave the childcare to us! Kids will enjoy a fun–filled night, including exhibit play & exploration, a staff led activity, and dinner from Alfredo’s Pizza Villa. This drop-off event is currently for children ages 3 – 9 (must be potty independent). Kids will exercise their minds, bodies, imagination, and independence.

Caregiver Education:

Tuesday, February 13th from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM

Baby & Me Yoga (Ages 0-11 months + Caregiver) is a time for baby and caregiver to connect, move and breathe together. Class will always include a check-in, followed by caregiver focused movement, baby focused movement, and relaxation. This class is most appropriate for infants who are not yet mobile. Infants who can roll over and/or sit up on their own, or who have just started crawling are also a great fit!

Summer Camp Registration

Join us for another summer filled with creative exploration, tinkering, and making at Camp Kidzu! Registration will open on February 5th at noon for members and February 12th at noon for non-members.
