Message from Library Director Pamela Monroe

There is something about that fall morning chill that gives me a feeling of nostalgia. Often associated with the season evoking a "wistful" affection for the past, nostalgia can't help but surround me as I watch the changing of the leaves and kids getting settled into the routine of school.

Football games, cocoa in warm blankets, and hay rides push me to one of my favorite genres: fractured fairy tales. These stories take the fairy tales we grew up with and give them a twist. Stories that can be told around a campfire or firepit (in cozy pajamas) are not only fun to read, but they often give a different perspective of a classic tale we may not have thought of.

Summer has its beach reads, but fall accompanies me on a walk through the woods where magic can spring up at any time. These stories may not be your cup of tea, but I encourage you to cuddle up with any good book this season. I promise it will be worth it.

Here are some wickedly fun reads:

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Dorothy Must Die series by Danielle Paige

The Wilderwood series by Hannah Whitten

So This is Ever After by F.T. Lukens

Books by Gregory Maguire

Tales of the Wendy by Erin Michelle Sky
