AARP TAX-AIDE PROGRAM, STORYTELLING & DRUMMING FESTIVAL & MORE!

Greetings from Mastick Senior Center!

If you are age 50+ and/or know of someone who is, then read on for exciting programs that Mastick Senior Center offers!  Membership is FREE and REQUIRED to participate in Mastick programs.  Stop by the Mastick Lobby (Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) or call 510-747-7500 to become a member or renew your membership.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program

There will be a 2022 Tax Program this year.  To keep all volunteers and taxpayers as safe as possible, there are modifications to the program.

  • Appointments will be made by phone only and require that you leave your name and best phone number to receive a return call
  • The Tax Program phone line is 510-747-7501 and will open on Wednesday, January 25 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Appointments will be made for time slots only, not specific Tax-Aide volunteers
  • The process will be a same day "DROP OFF" model.  At your appointment time, a Tax-Aide volunteer will meet you at the tax room doorway and review your completed intake forms (sent with the appointment letter) and inventory your tax documents.  Please wait in your vehicle or at the Center, for approximately one hour, until a Tax-Aide volunteer contacts you to review and sign your tax forms and retrieve all documents.

Please note that the Tax Program is unable to complete returns for the following situations:

  • Partial year health insurance - must have full year coverage
  • Schedule K with anything other than Interest, Dividends, and Royalties
  • Not a full time California resident
  • Sales of house with gain of over $250,000 if single, $500,000 if married
  • Married Filing Separately - unless both taxpayers did not live together for the full year
  • Rental property including Airbnb
