Bentonville, AR - Mayor Stephanie Orman of Bentonville proclaimed June 5 as “Future Mobility Day” in the city of Bentonville, Ark., in honor of the tech-sector leaders and investors gathered at the 2022 UP.Summit with the shared objective of promoting cleaner, safer, more affordable mobility and transportation in our city, state, nation, and world.

Mayor Orman delivered the proclamation during the UP.Summit Community Day at Thaden Fieldhouse on June 5. More than 3,000 attendees from across the area had a look at next generation vehicles, interactive technology, demonstrations and more. The exhibitors showcased an abundance of out of this world futuristic technology, such as flying cars, autonomous and electric planes, trucks, cars, excavators and drones.

A nod to history, the event also included a flyover of three historic War Birds, including a Good year F2G Super Corsair known as “Race 57”, flown by Steuart Walton. Walton was joined by two other pilots who flew the historic Supermarine Spitfire Mark 18 and the North American P-51D Mustang known as “Was That Too Fast”.

The day kicked off with a moon rover traversing through Bentonville’s downtown square, beginning outside the historical Walmart Museum. The rover was provided by Venturi Astrolab, an aerospace company based in California pioneering new ways to explore and operate on distant planetary bodies.

Following Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson’s commitment to make Arkansas a global leader in next generation transportation, the world’s 250 most dynamic thinkers, doers and investors representing all facets of mobility have converged in Bentonville for the 2022 UP.Summit, which officially starts today and runs through Wednesday, June 8.

Now in its fifth year, the UP.Summit is an invitation-only event that attracts CEOs of some of the world’s biggest companies, founders of the most inspiring start-ups and capital allocators representing more than $1 trillion of assets under management.
