Midwest Renewable Energy Association Newsletter - January 2023

Clubs and Organizations

January 25, 2023

From: Midwest Renewable Energy Association

Hello Fair friends,

There are few things our team looks forward to as much as sending out the first Energy Fair newsletter of the year. Okay, the Fair is something we look forward to more, but we appreciate this moment!

There is no doubt that the clean energy industry has changed since the first Fair in 1990; thank you for your part in that. Since the last time we met at the fairgrounds, just six months ago, we have seen incredible change and promise of growth in the already booming industry. As you may know, the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act provides a hopeful path forward into a more sustainable world, creating a "golden hour" of opportunity for individuals, communities, and the industry at large.

What does this mean for your experience at the 2023 Fair? If we have anything to say about it, we will be shining a light on exemplary organizations and individuals who may play an important part in your continued journey to sustainability. More than ever, we are energized to bring you practical education, accessible tools and resources, and more reasons to find joy and connect with your fellow humans.

The planning for the Fair is still underway and it is never too late to get involved. We hope you will consider sharing the Fair with your family and friends as we gear up for an incredible year and an incredible event.

Shine on!

Entertainment Announcements

Full lineups will be announced in the Spring. For now, enjoy this sneak peek!

NUR-D - FRIDAY 6/23

If you can imagine the soulful sounds of Bruno Mars or Childish Gambino, the powerful energy of Lizzo, the pop culture punchlines of an episode of “Community,” all rolled up into a show that everyone can enjoy ala The Fresh Prince... then you would be able to see why many people are calling Nur-D the next big thing out of Minnesota.

PATCHOULI & TERRA GUITARRA - FRIDAY 6/23

Patchouli is a folk festival headliner and Public Radio favorite with pure, sparkling lead vocals and beautiful harmonies. Their sound, depth and virtuosity is described as “Simon and Garfunkel meets the Gipsy Kings” and City Pages compares it to “taking a yoga class in a field of running mustangs”.

DEAD HORSES - SUNDAY 6/25

Milwaukee-based folk band Dead Horses have cultivated a soulful roots sensibility informed as much by early-American prose as it is modern Americana music. “Our music is about hope and joy, all while sharing an important message that you’re never alone in your battles.”

THE SOUNDTRACK OF SUMMER - The 2023 Energy Fair

We are curating a playlist featuring music from the 2023 lineup!
