Lower-level gallery and inside the History Room

Visit the Library's lower-level gallery to view our new exhibit Above the Clouds: Postcards from Mt. Tamalpais (c. 1900-1915) featuring over 140 charming scenes from the Mill Valley and Mount Tamalpais Scenic Railway (later renamed the Mount Tamalpais & Muir Woods Scenic Railway).

After you've enjoyed the curated selection of items on display in the hallway, stop by the History Room to check out our exhibit about the names and places that brought Mill Valley to the forefront of the counterculture movement entitled Refugees from American Consumerism: Mill Valley’s Counterculture in the Beatnik 1950s through the 1970s ‘Me’ Decade.
