ECLIPSE PROGRAMS

Learn about the Sun and Safely View the Eclipse!

On October 14th, a partial annular eclipse will be visible across the country. Join the Mill Valley Library to learn about solar science, pick up a pair of eclipse glasses for safe solar viewing, and join us in an eclipse party on the morning of the 14th!

Pick up your Eclipse Glasses: September 25th – October 13th

Starting today, free eclipse glasses will be available for pick up at the Reference Desk on a first come, first served basis. While supplies last, you can request up to two pairs per household (the eclipse takes place over many hours, and sharing is encouraged)!

Stellar Solar Science at the Depot Plaza: Wednesday, October 4th | 2:30-3:30pm

Join the Library and Marin Stargazers for a (safe) peek at the sun to learn about solar science and eclipses as we prepare for the partial annular eclipse visible in Marin on October 14th. Dan Smiley of Marin Stargazers will facilitate a viewing through a solar telescope, and the Library will distribute free solar-safe eclipse glasses which we'll use to observe the sun. Join us for learning, crafts, and fun for all ages! Registration required.

Partial Eclipse Viewing Party at Hauke Park: Saturday, October 14th | 9:00-10:00am

Join us in Hauke Park to view the partial annular solar eclipse on October 14th with a solar telescope and free eclipse glasses! Although the eclipse will begin to be visible starting at 8:00am, our viewing party will begin at 9:00am to catch maximum solar coverage of 83% at 9:19am. All ages, registration required.

Home Movie Day

Join us for Mill Valley's first Home Movie Day! Relive cherished moments as we screen your family's vintage films and celebrate the stories that shape us. Bring your reels and memories to share with the community. Laughter, nostalgia, and popcorn await! Visit millvalleylibrary.org/HMD to learn more.

Learn to save a life with Southern Marin Fire. During this interactive session, you'll learn hands-only CPR, how to stop bleeding, and more. Join us to refresh your skills and have your first aid questions answered by professionals.

Halloween Upcycle Paint Night
Wednesday, October 4th | 6:00-7:30pm
Creekside Room

Come by, hang out, and upcycle some old art by "spookifying" it! We'll take old paintings and add ghosts, ghouls, and goblins to make them ready for the spookiest season. The Library will provide old paintings and art supplies, you just bring your creativity!

Light refreshments will be provided. This adult program is FREE but due to limited space and supplies, registration is required. Click here to register.

Meet the Butterflies!

Learn all about butterflies and caterpillars is this hands-on program with nature educator Suzanne Clarke! What do butterflies eat? Where do monarchs go when they migrate? What is the difference between a cocoon and a chrysalis? Get all your butterfly questions answered and get up close with all stages of a butterfly's life cycle.
