Programs

Friday Movies are back for the new year! Join us every Friday at 1pm in the Roche Bros Room for new releases and old classics. Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Friends of the Millis Library

January 13th: Fatherhood (PG-13) 2021 1hr 50min

An eager expectant father finds his world is torn asunder when his wife inexplicably passes away after giving birth. He must then reconcile his challenging past with his grief if he is to be the father he always dreamed of being. Based on the novel by Matt Logelin.

January 20th: Good House (R) 2021 1hr 54min

Hildy, a divorced small-town realtor, struggles to feel normal in her day-to-day life. A struggling alcoholic, Hildy constantly spends her days lying and creating excuses to justify her drinking. Her family then stages an intervention, forcing her to come to terms with what her drinking is doing to everyone around her. Based on Ann Leary's novel of the same name.

And instead of a traditional movie on Friday, January 27th at 1pm, join us for a presentation of "Etched in Glass" as directors Allan Holzman and Roger Lyons show us extensive clips of their award winning films: "Survivors of the Holocaust” and “Etched in Glass: The Legacy of Steve Ross”. Taking audiences from from pre-war Poland through America today, the directors will participate in a Q&A session that builds upon the films and books after.

“Survivors of the Holocaust” tells us haunting, true stories from people who lived and died in World WW II. Former prisoners tell their stories in sometimes graphic detail to explain what happened in the camps.

“Etched in Glass” tells the viewer what it was like in the Holocaust and how resilient and resourceful people like Steve Ross were to survive it and make something of themselves. It’s the true story of a 9 year-old Polish boy, captured by the Nazis, who endured 10 Nazi concentration camps over 5 horrific years, eventually changing the lives of thousands.

On a lighter note, we'd like to invite you to join us for an hour of quiet relaxation before your busy weekend. Join us Friday, January 13th at 6:30pm for Color and Chill: an Adult Coloring program to take a break from your busy life and distract yourself with a variety of pages waiting for you with soothing music and snacks.

Everything you'll need will be provided-- just bring yourself! No registration required.

And are you ready for another Middle School library game night? Join us Friday, January 20th at 6:30pm for Smash Night where our gamers (grades 6-8) will play this classic brawling game to see who comes out on top! Register here to reserve your fighter and we'll see you at the start of the stage!
