July 20, 2023

From: The Dorothy and Charles Mosesian Center for the Arts

July and August at Mosesian Arts are typically the months when we're focused on Summer Stages & Studios for young artists and actors (as well as planning for the fall and next season). But this summer, we’re also highlighting the work of our talented staff in a one-night-only performance and a first-of-its-kind exhibition! Come see, learn, and experience it all!

STAFF CABARET | JULY 21

This Friday, July 21, a Staff Cabaret on the Charles Mosesian Main Stage will feature the performing talents of Mosesian Arts teaching artists, staff, and designers.

Among those performing will be Watertown Children’s Theatre Producing Director Deidre Purcell, voice teacher Susan Davies, teaching artists Arlene Velleman, Eva Murray, and Dawn Evans Scaltreto, production assistant Toni Carton, and power pop musical act JATK (fronted by Matt Jatkola, Director of Creative Services and Design), and more!.

Light refreshments and dessert will be served following the 7:00 PM performance. For those who are traveling or unable to attend in person, livestream tickets are also available for purchase.

COME TO THE CABARET!

Proceeds from the Staff Cabaret will benefit MCA’s Capital Campaign Fund and will be matched up to $100,000 to name MCA’s Black Box Theater in honor of Watertown Children’s Theatre Founding Director, Dinah Lane, on the occasion of WCT's 40th Anniversary Celebration this fall!

Can’t come but still want to support the cause? Click below and you can direct a contribution to the Capital Campaign, our Tuition Assistance Fund, or General Membership so your tax-deductible gift can be applied where it's needed most. (As a bonus, a donation of $25 or more to any fund qualifies you for Membership!)

STAFF ART EXHIBITION | THROUGH AUGUST 25

Our gallery exhibition this summer is Impressions, the first showcase of artworks by Mosesian Arts staff and teaching artists. Impressions includes works ranging from paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, and collages to mixed media pieces, music videos, and recordings. Some of our talented designers are exhibiting costumes created for various productions, and the script of a play is available to read for all theater enthusiasts. Impressions will remain on display through August 25.

A call for art for the following exhibition, In Depth: Life in Photographs, has a deadline of August 7. Artists may submit photos or photo-based work and projects inspired by the depth and complexities of being human.

SUMMER STAGES & STUDIOS

Just in time for summer programming, the construction fences in front of Mosesian Arts are down and the lawn is open! (Be aware though that construction on some roadways and sidewalks still continues.)

Although summer fun is already underway, a few spaces remain in some programs for Summer Stages & Studios for young actors and artists in grades K-12!

Later this month, we'll announce arts education programming for the Fall, and registration will begin on August 1!
