45 Years of Serving Our Community

In 1979, an extraordinary team of visionaries from within our community created Hospice Hawaii to serve our islands and make the end of every journey just as beautiful as the beginning. Here we are in 2024, 45 years later, with a new name and new services, but the same passion and commitment to supporting the people of Hawaii.

Over the decades, our devoted staff have carried forth a vision of providing relief from suffering, unwavering emotional support and unshakeable hope, helping tens of thousands of patients treat every moment as a moment worth living. We continue to be the only local stand-alone non-profit hospice organization on Oahu, and no patient is ever turned away regardless of their inability to pay.

In 2019, we evolved to become Navian Hawaii as we expanded our purpose to provide care for every life journey. Formed from the words “Navigator” and “Guardian,” Navian is a modern take on the critical roles each staff member performs.

As we kick off our 45th year of serving the community, we reflect on the incredible progress we have made as an organization and look eagerly at what is to come. Mahalo for your support over the years, which has allowed us to thrive and truly make an impact in the lives of those we love. Together, we will celebrate every one of life’s moments, always navigating in the direction of hope.

Make Your New Year’s Resolutions Happen

Many people make New Year’s resolutions, but research shows that fewer than 10% of those resolutions are successful. That’s because resolutions are something we desire or make but they don’t typically include the “how or the why” for a successful outcome.

If your intention this year is to organize your affairs or put an estate plan in place, you are not alone. This is one of the most important gifts we can give ourselves and our loved ones, but it can be hard to begin.

Here are important how-to-steps when starting your estate plan.

If you already have a will or living trust and major life circumstances have occurred in the last year, now is the time to review it for updating.

Let the new year inspire you to make your plans and leave a legacy. If you have named Navian Hawaii in your estate plan, please let us know so we can fulfill your intentions.
