Are Microfiche and Microfilm Still Used? The answer is... YES!

Despite advances in technology, such as cloud-based memory storage, microfiche/microfilm machines are still an essential tool to access important historic records. The Library has a collection of hundreds of microforms, including Newton newspapers spanning the years 1866-1997. We also house a large City of Newton archival collection. Our new machine can also make photocopies in color or black and white from slides and negatives. To access these resources and use the new machine, please make an appointment and a Librarian will assist you!

The Newton Senior Center will have an outpost in our second floor Meeting Room C for a few select programs during the NewCal construction.

We're also excited to host the Newton Senior Center Chamber Ensemble's annual Holiday Concert on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in Druker Auditorium.

Apply to Exhibit Your Art at the Library

Proposals are currently being accepted for July - December 2023 exhibits from New England region artists showing two-dimensional works, or works that are compatible with the Walker Rod system.

Board of Trustees' Library Annual Appeal Hits Newton Mailboxes

The Trustees of Newton Free Library and the Friends of Newton Free Library help the Library in a variety of meaningful ways. We simply could not be as beloved an institution without their collective support!

Residents recently received a letter from Barbara F. Meltz, Library Board of Trustees President, outlining the many ways community support helped the Library this year.
